That’s a valid point! While treats can be effective, mixing in praise and play can create a more balanced training experience. It also helps reduce the likelihood of your dog only performing for food.

What do you think? Should we balance it out with praise or toys?

My pup, Max, really responds well to treats when he completes an obstacle. Anyone else notice that certain treats work better than others?

Different dogs can have different preferences. I’ve found that freeze-dried liver works wonders for many dogs, but it varies from dog to dog. It’s all about experimenting to see what gets your pup excited!

Great suggestion! I’ll definitely consider covering that topic. Starting with jumps and tunnels is usually a hit, and you can easily make some DIY agility equipment at home!

That’s a common concern! It really depends on how you use it. Positive reinforcement should be balanced with training and structure. When done correctly, it helps build a strong bond and encourages good behavior!

Try using a long line to give your dog some freedom while still maintaining control. Also, practicing in a quiet area before moving to a busier one can help. Gradually increase distractions as your dog gets more comfortable!

The PetSafe set is a great choice! I’d also recommend the Outward Hound Agile Dog Agility Starter Kit. It’s compact and perfect for beginners. Combining different types of equipment can keep things exciting for your dog!

I struggle with distractions at the park. Any advice would be great!
